Artists Statement
Snails have always been my friends. When I was 3 I didn’t realise there was more than 1 snail in the garden, I just named them all Wembly.
We eventually move out of my sisters house in the city and into an apartment in St Kilda, I long for a cat or dog friend, we aren’t allowed any pets so my sister gifts me 5 snails for my birthday in a terrarium.
Their names are Desiderata, Orinoco, Wanjo, Saru and of course Wembly.
I can tell them all apart, they all have unique personalities, they delight me no end.
I love you snails, thank you for teaching me to trust the timing of my life, to go slow, to leave a sparkling trail.
